To the artist there is never anything ugly in nature ~ Auguste Rodin

Art is a harmony parallel with nature ~ Paul Cezanne

I think having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful art that anybody could ever want to own ~ Andy Warhol

Abstract art is not the creation of another reality but the true vision of reality ~ Piet Mondrian

Art is born of the observation and investigation of nature ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero

All art is but imitation of nature ∼ Lucius Annaeus Seneca

An artist must possess Nature. He must identify himself with her rhythm, by efforts that will prepare the mastery which will later enable him to express himself in his own language ~ Henri Matisse

My painting is what I have to give back to the world for what the world gives to me ~ Georgia O’Keeffe
Above Canyon de Chelly National Monument and below Capitol Reef National Park: These abstract walls in monochrome could be the inspiration for many contemporary artists. They were certainly inspiring to us.
Everything you can imagine is real ~ Pablo Picasso

Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing ~ Salvador Dali

Although we could go on and on, we’re going to wrap up the post with one final abstract masterpiece. The photo below was taken in California on our most recent road trip. The image seems to drip, splash, and flow, but interestingly it is not water. Stay tuned for a post about the park coming soon.

Man is simply playing by nature’s rules, and art is man’s attempt to imitate the beauty of the Creator’s hand ~ Dan Brown

What wonderful textures!
Thank you, Joy.
What a fabulous idea for a post! Your photos really do show how we can find abstract art in nature – rock formations, grasses and that beautiful reflection!
Thank you, Sarah! It was a fun one to do as I’m always looking for textures to photograph.
Kellye, what a brilliant post. Giving the artist quotes which suggested their styles and pairing them with the beautiful photographs you had taken was pure genius. You are a true artist in how you see art and nature! 😍
That is one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever received, Ellen. Thank you so much for your kind words.
Masterpieces indeed 👍 both, originals photos ☀️🙏🌹
Thank you so much, Fred!
This is a wonderful experience in a post. I loved all of it. Textures and colours it showed so much that is lovely about nature.
Thank you, Sandy. I appreciate your sweet comment.
Those are gorgeous! I always try to take photos like this but they never turn out right!
Thank you for reading the post and for your comment, Theresa. I bet yours turn out better than you think. We are, after all, our own worst critics.
This is a very imaginative, unique and creative post! Beautiful pictures! I look forward to your next post based on the California abstract!
Thank you, Betty! That California post may be a few weeks/months in coming, but I assure you it will be coming.
I am sure the wait will be worth it!
Real good article. Nature’s art is impossible to beat.
Thank you so much!
Wonderful post! It’s so interesting how you associated each nature photo with the style of individual artists. Truly an inspiration. Thanks for such an interesting read! All the best.
Thank you so much! Your lovely comment is very much appreciated.
Wonderful post
Thank you very much for your nice comment!
I love this! You are so right, there is so much beauty in nature, we just have to take the time to look.
Thank you, Lyssy! It’s all in the details…
I really enjoyed seeing familiar locations in a new perspective.
Thank you, Brad!
I love your art collection Kellye. Like me, you are likely always looking for shapes, patterns and colours. Great series.. Happy Tuesday. Allan
Thank you for your nice comment, Allan. We’re trying to look for more details. I think we were missing a lot by not paying close attention.
Cool post, those varying waves danced all over my eyes.
Thank you, Ray!
That’s a very clever and inspired post, guys!
Thank you, Phil and Michaela. It was a fun post to do.
Nature really is the best artist. What a lovely set of pictures to showcase the beauty and smaller details found all around us in nature.
Thank you! We are trying to pay closer attention to details.
Enjoyed the abstract shots! Always fun to learn from other’s experiences and what things that catch their eye. Although in my opinion, a bit of kook, but I do like the Salvador Dali you used.
Thank you, Brian! The weirder the better as far as I’m concerned.
Great photos! Love seeing nature look like paintings
Thank you so much!
Wonderful findings, Kellye!! Great captures!
Thank you, Jyothi! It was a fun post to do.
Beautiful collection of pictures Kellye 🙂 Proof that the national parks are not only beautiful in landscapes but also in small moments and feelings. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Thanks so much for your sweet comment, Meg! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving too.
Such descriptive commentary Kellye, I know many of the artists mentioned but wouldn’t know what they painted. I guessed Monet before I saw the comment. You really are a true art connoiseur
Thank you, Ali! I was an art major in college, but I never pursued art as a career. I do love the classics though.
You can tell from your posts
At least you are putting it to good use now with your blog
You should do more like that
It’s education for people like me ☺️
I wish I could thank the world for what it is has given me in as grand a way as Georgia O’Keeffe can! Great idea and execution for a post!
Thanks so much, Geoff. That is a very sweet comment.
Fantastic post! I love how the quotes match to your amazing images. Quite inspiring actually 😊
Having an eye to find the beauty in nature like this takes a special person. Keep doing what your doing, a very enjoyable post!
These are excellent examples of just how spectacular nature is! Here on our beach we see a lot of those rocks with the little holes in them (and every time I am amazed by them). My favourite is the photo taken in the Badlands National Park – wow!
Art is way past my understanding, but then again being shallow accounts for it
These are all wonderful quotes, nature up close is art by itself. So many different lines, textures, colors. I love nature up close, it has something to offer that can spur our imaginations. 🙂
Kellye, this is a wonderful post! Great quotes and images and a solid lesson in the history of art. I’ve been off WordPress for a few months, but so have you it seems. I hope everything is well with you and the family.
Wonderful quotes and accompanying images. There is so much more to appreciate if you expand your mind from the tried and true tourist scenes. Linda’s favorite photographer is Peter Lik and he has entire collections he calls Elements which tries to capture the beauty in nature’s textures. You are spot on!
Wow! Nature’s art is grand! Nice captures!
Just checking in Kellye to say hi and wish you and Mike a very Merry Christmas. We are still away from home spending time with our grandbaby but hope to be home by the 20th. All the best Allan
